In principle I will back anything that makes the profession I work in more credible, more ethical and more beneficial for customers. However as is always the case, Im sure the majority of the headlines will be just that, headlines, and we'll end up with a much diluted set of guidelines.

If not, then the restrictions they will have a severe impact on mortgage availability and customers freedom to manage their finances. 

The removal of the self certification products could have a far-reaching effect on our entreprenurial economy. Anyone that is self employed and wants a mortgage will have to start declaring some/more income and paying some/more taxes, taking away the main incentive of running your own business.

Paying taxes is certainly not a bad thing, but if it costs us our enterprise culture then we'll all suffer in the long run!
